Sad Day for BSU

Well, not only was it JoLynne's birthday it was also the day BSU played in their bowl game. They lost! 17 to 16 against TCU. I told JoLynne that this was it. Last year they played on her birthday in a bowl game and lost as well. Her birthday and their schedule just does not seem to work very well. If by chance it happens again next year, she will not get a birthday.

Cold day in DC

Well we went to DC for my daughters birthday. Our family and Grandma too. It was a fun long day. Departed home around 0730 and returned home just before midnight. The weather was bone chilling. I believe that it was a cold 26 degrees and a slight wind. Definatley not what I am used to coming from Hawaii. We walked the mall and saw some of the monuments. By the time we made it back to The Musuem of Natural History, I think we were all popcicles. Poor Joaquin, I am not sure what he thought about that day. One bit of exciting news, while we were making our way up to the Lincoln Memorial, a gentleman approached us and asked if we would like to participate in a study. They had a orange 3 foot square on the lawn. They were wanting to see if they could fit 6 people in it. The reason for the study is that when Obama is sworn in as the new president, they are expecting about 4 million people in attendance. Which would average 6 people every 3 square feet. He then interviewed us on tape. Asking questions about the election, if we were planning on attending the inaugeration. Was it comfortable for us being so close. The men were from NPR in Washington. The interview is supposed to be on the website soon. They forgot their camera and asked if I would mind emailing them a picture. Sent one out, and when I get the link I will add it to my blog.

Favorite Rush Song "The Pass"

Proud swagger out of the schoolyard
Waiting for the world's applause
Rebel without a conscience
Martyr without a cause

Static on your frequency
Electrical storm in your veins
Raging at unreachable glory
Straining at invisible chains

And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge
Staring down into a heartless sea
Can't face life on a razor's edge
Nothing's what you thought it would be

All of us get lost in the darkness
Dreamers learn to steer by the stars
All of us do time in the gutter
Dreamers turn to look at the cars
Turn around and turn around and turn around
Turn around and walk the razor's edge
Don't turn your back
And slam the door on me

It's not as if this barricade
Blocks the only road
It's not as if you're all alone
In wanting to explode

Someone set a bad example
Made surrender seem all right
The act of a noble warrior
Who lost the will to fight

And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge
Staring down into a heartless sea
Done with life on a razor's edge
Nothing's what you thought it would be

No hero in your tragedy
No daring in your escape
No salutes for your surrender
Nothing noble in your fate
Christ, what have you done?

Down and Dirty

I just received a 5 minute crash coarse on how to blog from my wonderful daughter. "The music loving book worm." I still have no idea what I am to do next, she sorta has left me to be on my own. I hope to keep this up daily if not weekly. As I become more comfortable with navigating this, I hope to add some pictures of my stops through out the world.
